[ARCHIVED] MAYOR BOB GOLDEN REGARDING POWER OUTAGES

Mayor Bob Golden advises that he had a conversation with a senior Oncor official at 11:45 am this morning, February 16, 2021.  To summarize, the Oncor official said our problems started with the shutdown of several power plants (due to extreme cold conditions) Sunday night/Monday morning.  There were attempts to initiate a rolling blackout program but those threatened to shutdown the entire grid so they were halted.  Until those power plants return to service, and he could not predict when, we will most likely not see power restored in Haslet.

Mayor Golden advises that for what it is worth, there were over 1.3 million folks in north Texas without power at noon today.  "We are not in this alone, not that it makes me any warmer to say that.  I wish that I could fix this issue but it is much bigger than a Haslet problem."
