Library Awards and Accolades

HASLET PUBLIC LIBRARY RECEIVES 2022 ACHIEVEMENT OF LIBRARY EXCELLENCE AWARD FROM TEXAS MUNICIPAL LIBRARY DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION

The award is conferred annually to libraries demonstrating excellence and outstanding contributions to their communities. Of the 565 public library systems in Texas, 59 libraries earned this year’s award. Libraries must provide the following to receive this award; services to underserved populations and to the public in an enhanced manner, publicity highlighting services and programs, support for literacy for all ages and various forms of digital inclusion, workforce development, and staff training. Libraries must also collaborate with community organizations and host a Summer Reading Program for all ages.

Haslet Public Library also received this award in 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, and 2015.


HASLET PUBLIC LIBRARY NAMED 1ST IN THE NATION BY THE LIBRARY JOURNALWeb page 1st

2021, The Haslet Public Library was named 1st in the nation in the Library Journal's American Star Libraries' Achievement of Library Excellence annual award. 5,846 public libraries in the United States qualified for candidacy. 261 libraries in the nation received an award. Only 11 of those were in Texas. The Haslet Public Library has received this award nine years in a row. This is the first time it received the honor of being 1st in the nation.

HASLET PUBLIC LIBRARY RECEIVES 5-STAR RATING FROM LIBRARY JOURNAL

The Haslet Public Library has received a Library Journal American Star Libraries Achievement of Library Excellence 5-star rating for 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2013. Out of the 5,608 public libraries in the United States that qualified to be rated, only 262 libraries were recipients of either a 3-star, 4-star, or 5-star award, including only 8 public libraries in the State of Texas. The Haslet Public Library is one of only 87 libraries nationally to be recognized as a 5-star library. Libraries who receive this award are rated on per capita circulation of physical items and electronic materials, total number of visitors, total number of program attendees, and total WiFi sessions.
