HASLET FIRE DIVISION CHIEF LEE GODBOLD ACHIEVES CERTIFICATION AS US&R RESCUE SPECIALIST

HFD Div Chief Godbold receives Cert

At the Jan. 3rd City Council meeting, Mayor Golden presented Haslet Fire Division Chief Lee Godbold with a Certificate of Excellence in recognition of his achieving certification as an Urban Search and Rescue Specialist through the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service. To receive the certification, Chief Godbold completed rigorous training including 80 hours in structural collapse, 50 hours rope rescue, 50 hours advanced exterior shoring, 50 hours advanced interior shoring and 50 hours advanced breaching and breaking operations. The Haslet Fire Department now has personnel with significant advanced training that can provide specialized medical care to victims trapped in structural collapses and other dangerous environments. “Chief Godbold is one of those high energy people that loves to train and teach others. His passion for the job and eagerness to help others no matter how simple or complex the emergency might be, is what propels him to being one of the top firefighters in the country”, said Haslet Fire Chief Kirt Mays. Chief Godbold has been a volunteer firefighter for 30 years and a member of the Haslet Fire Department for 14 years, including past volunteer Fire Chief of Haslet from 2004-2006. He is currently a career firefighter for Haltom City, a Tarrant County College Fire Instructor, and a Member of the Texas Task Force II-Medical Specialist. Haslet is fortunate to have such a professional in the HFD.
